LALU project members led by Mellow Baku staged their last gig of the year on Thursday. A small and intimate performance for a dozen pre school children and nursery staff from the Peepul Enterprises daycare centre.
The group had been practising Christmas classics Silent Night and Jingle Bells over the last couple of weeks and they also performed their new song Mane Joiye Dosti, Mani Joiye Shanti ( I want friendship, i want peace)
The children were given percussion instruments to shake and they were invited to hold a ukulele. The short performance produced plenty of smiles from the children and the ladies alike.
The last Ukulele and songwriting session is on Thursday the 17th December from 2pm until 4pm. We welcome new members in the new year.
The creative art lyric illustration workshops also continue in the New Year, starting on Monday the 18th January and continuing on until May. There are some places in the FREE classes which run from 1pm until 3pm on a Monday. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Or just come along and have a look.
We will be continuing with our screen printed lyrics and textile art pieces until the 25th January and then starting a new block of eight weeks with Nita Nathwani creating wonderful ceramics. All of the works created will be exhibited at Peepul Enterprises and other venues at the end of the project and be used to illustrate a book of songs created during the project.
